#ROTHMUZEUMBLOG: THE RÓTH MIKSA MEMORIAL HOUSE AND COLLECTION LAUNCHES ITS BLOG!
Author: Dóra Kolocz, Translator: Csenge Hangay

The #rothmuzeumblog is a platform where we show the knowledge we have compiled in recent years, a platform that is about everything that interests us, a blog that the museum's staff runs in collaboration with its interns.

The Miksa Róth Memorial House and Collection blog is a big undertaking which started to take shape gradually after collecting, discussing and weighing ideas. The blog is being launched in a year that is of paramount importance in the life of the museum. In 1865, 160 years ago, the former owner and resident of the building, the glass artist Miksa Róth, was born. In 2025, we are planning to make the anniversary memorable with numerous events and novelties. The anniversary also coincides with the jubilee, the 10th round of the museum's internship program. 1 The internship program, which started in 2021, has become one of the most important elements of the operation of the Miksa Róth Memorial House and Collection in recent years: now, together with our interns, we are starting to create and to maintain an online platform, which will not only be about notable facts and stories related to the museum's objects, and its building, but also about us, the museum community.

Community, heritage, culture: this is the slogan of the museum. Backed by a renewed strategy since 2021, we have been working to ensure that the museum, which operates in the former home of one of our country's most famous applied arts’ masters, really evokes and embodies these concepts in many people. In recent years, the museum's growing staff and growing team of interns have conducted countless collaborative projects in this spirit. We have edited a publication together, put together an exhibition, created the Miksa Róth timeline in the museum's staircase, revised the entire events structure of the museum, and we have also carried out and continue to carry out collection responsibilities and scientific research in the background.

In 2024, we presented a new, major theme to our visitors: commemorating the 80th anniversary of Miksa Róth's death, we highlighted the major events of the artist's life, the historical context surrounding it, and through events and installations, we illustrated the importance of the historical setting packed with epoch-making novelties inducing social, technical, and lifestyle changes.

The Miksa Róth Memorial House and Collection cares for a complex, exciting collection, and within our walls there is just as much room for the history of the city, the building, lifestyle and family history as for the themes of applied arts, fine arts and contemporary design. The members of our community come from countless areas and have varied interests, and we work to ensure that this diverse team creates colorful events and opportunities to connect with Miksa Róth’s interesting legacy for as many people as possible.

A house with a story, which is part of the fabric of Budapest, which is a constituent element of the history and everyday life of Külső-Erzsébetváros, the outer tier of the 7th district.

An applied arts master who became legendary for his artistic sense, talent, and technical innovations, who created epoch-making artworks with his colleagues and fellow artists, who can be duly associated with all three, distinct styles of Historicism, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco.

A man who built a brand, ran workshops, lived a social life, was a resident of the capital of the time, had neighbors, customers, friends, colleagues, employees, and relatives, was a teacher and a student, an innovator equipped with great networking skills.

The blog of the Miksa Róth Memorial House and Collection will be about all of this and more, encompassing a wide range of topics. As the list of authors includes both the museum's staff and team of interns, each person will bring his or her own areas of interest and the stories they grew fond of, inspired by the museum's collection, the building and Miksa Róth's legacy.

We will report on the life of the museum, our exciting research, our events, and we will also introduce each other, the people who run, shape, and rethink the Miksa Róth Memorial House and Collection, and who make it a lively and lovable place, and take care of Miksa Róth's wonderful, complex, and for many, exciting legacy day by day.

All of this is for you, the museum visitors, the blog readers, the followers of our online platforms, so that you can get to know the various aspects of our collection all the more thoroughly.
